Members of Sexual Harassment Team
#1 – Title IX Coordinator-Melinda Sexton
#2 - Informal Resolution Facilitator-Matt Grimes
#3 - Investigator-John Smith
#4 - Decision Maker-Angie Bragg
#5 - Appellant Decision Maker-Will Begley
Before performing an investigation, this team must be trained on the regulatory definition, the scope of the district's educational program, how to conduct an investigation, the grievance process, and impartial service, conflict of interest, and bias standards.
Steps when a Title IX Sexual Harassment claim is made:
The Title IX Coordinator and Informal Resolution Facilitator take the initial action. The IRF would conduct an informal investigation to see if a resolution can be achieved. If so, he/she would report this to the Title IX Coordinator and resolution would be enacted.
If a resolution could not be achieved, the IRF would notify the Title IX Coordinator, who would notify the Investigator to begin a formal Investigation.
After this investigation is complete, the findings would be turned over to the Decision Maker, who would make the decision on a resolution. If the decision was appealed, the Appellant Decision Maker would oversee the appeal.
The Title IX Coordinator and Informal Resolution Facilitator need to be trained immediately while the Investigator, Decision Maker and Appellant Decision Maker get trained when the need arises.
